India’s date is April 22, 2013, for this category, while other chargeability areas show progress to April 1, 2023.

EB-4 (Special Immigrants)

This category is unavailable across all countries due to visa cap exhaustion for FY 2025. A reopening isn’t expected until October 2025.

EB-5 (Investors)

Reserved categories (Rural, High-Unemployment, Infrastructure) remain current, while unreserved visas for China and India still show backlogs.

Why EB-1A might be your best bet

The EB-1A shows much less backlog than the other categories. Hence, this category can offer a faster and more flexible green card route. There is a widely held misconception that EB-1A remains reserved for extremely premium and blue-ribbon candidates. This is not so. If you have demonstrable experience of six years or more in a respective field (Art, Science, Humanities), you could fulfill the EB-1A requirements.
